Being a mother is the most rewarding but thankless job in the world. Lucky for us mums, we get one day of the year where the world stops for a moment and says, "Hey mum, you're great. Thanks for all that you do."
The tradition dates back to 1912, when Anna Jarvis's campaign to make "mother's day" a recognised holiday in the USA was successful and the tradition quickly spread across the world.
Sometimes, though... reality doesn't quite live up to the dream.
